On June 6th FPC Hartsville sent a delegation of 11 church members on a two week journey to Juja parish in Kenya to visit Reverend Henry Kaira and his three congregations. The delegation included Reverend Lauren Scharstein, The Lee family, Reverend Lisa and Dr. David Culpepper, Gladys Case, Susie Guerry and PJ Casey. The main purpose was to witness the dynamic and spiritual workings of the Presbyterian Church in Kenya, as well as building relationships and an understanding of a future potential partnership with the entire congregation. While there, the group attended a Kenyan wedding ceremony, participated and led worship services, visited orphanages and schools, and held a medical camp. They were hosted by elders of the church and cherished the warm hospitality extended to them by their gracious host families. The trip was both spiritually uplifting and humbling, and the team looks forward to sharing their experience with the congregation over the coming months.
