Dan grew up in neighboring Darlington, SC, and was a member of the Darlington Presbyterian Church. He was a 1973 graduate of St. John’s High School and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of South Carolina in 1977 with a BA in English. He then received his Doctor of Ministry from Columbia Theological Seminary in 1981.
Dan began his ministry in 1979-80 with the Pasadena Presbyterian Church in St. Petersburg, Florida, as an intern. He was then named the pastor of Franklin Presbyterian Church in Salisbury, North Carolina, where he served from 1981-1986. From Salisbury he moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina, as head of a new church development from 1986-1991. From 1991 – August, 2011, he has been the pastor of Rivermont Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He came to First Presbyterian Church in September of 2011.
Dan has a lovely wife, Joye, who is a native of Cheraw and a fifth grade math teacher. They have three children: Daniel and Bryan, who are both graduates of USC and Gracyn who is a graduate of Vanderbilt.
Dr. Dan really enjoys leading the children’s sermons. He also takes advantage to teach during Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings to all age groups.

Jill is the youngest of three girls and grew up just outside New York City. She attended Hope College, in Holland, Michigan and graduated with high honors and a Bachelor of Arts degree in religion and theatre in 2004. After serving Memorial Presbyterian Church of Midland, Michigan as the Director of Youth & Young Adult Ministries for five years, she and her husband, Andrew, moved to Richmond, Virginia. Jill earned a Master of Divinity from Union Presbyterian Seminary in 2012. In addition to seminary, Jill served The Gayton Kirk Presbyterian Church of Richmond, Virginia for three years as the Pastoral Assistant working in all aspects of small church life. Jill has also served as the Moderator for the Presbytery of the James’ Growth and Evangelism committee and served as a ministry consultant for a variety of faith-based non-profit organizations in the Richmond area. Jill is particularly passionate about the study of the Hebrew Bible and the relationship between the Old and New Testaments.
Jill, Andrew and their dog, Dutch, are thrilled to be living and serving in Hartsville. Andrew’s vocational background is in healthcare administration and he is a talented photographer and handyman. They love to travel, garden and cook: they are happiest sharing their dinner table with family and friends!

Mary has been in the accounting field for over thirty years. In addition to be our financial secretary, she also serves in that position at Greenwood Baptist Church in Florence, where she has been for several years. Mary retired from the CPA firm of Burch, Oxner, Seale Co in Florence and opened Southern Charms here in Hartsville which she ran for seven years. She attended the University of South Carolina, finishing her degree at Francis Marion University in Florence. She and her husband, Bill, reside in Lamar and have two grown children, Brad and Kirsten, and six grandchildren. She is very active in her church, where she is church treasurer and is in charge of the church’s monthly food distribution.

Anna has been actively involved in church music for over thirty years. A graduate of Queens College, she has pursued graduate studies at East Carolina University and University of South Carolina and holds certification in Orff Music. In addition to her responsibilities at church, she serves as Director of the Hartsville Chamber Ensemble. She directs the the Chancel Ringers, Celebration Ringers, Chancel Choir, Senior High Bell Choir, Youth Choir, and Choristers. She and her husband, Trent, have three children, Becky , Scottie and Bo who reside in New York City In her “free” time Anna enjoys reading, walking, Scrabble, movies and spending time with her dog, Allie.

Ronda received her Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education from Columbia College in Columbia, SC where she was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership society and Kappa Delta Epsilon, a national education society. She served as accompanist for the college’s preparatory voice students and as pianist and organist at Calvary Baptist Church in Columbia and Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Hartsville. Ronda has served as organist at First Presbyterian Church since 1991. She is also the director of the Cherubs, a preschool choir for ages 3-5. She has served as Director of the Choristers and Genesis Ringers. Ronda has taught music education in both public and private schools and maintains a private piano studio. She is also the accompanist for the Darlington County All County Choir, Chairman of the Hartsville Piano Teacher’s Association, Chairman of the Hartsville Chapter of the National Guild of Piano Teachers- a teaching division of the American College of Musicians, and member of the Hartsville Music Study Club. Ronda is married to Greg McElveen and they have one daughter, Madeline.

Annisa is a graduate of Coker College with a Bachelor of Science in Business
Administration, and special concentration in Management. She also holds an
Associate of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Middle Georgia
College. Annisa’s career includes 27 years of public and church service.
Originally from Georgia, Annisa lives in Hartsville with her husband, Mark.
They have been married for 23 years and have two children, Matthew (19) and
Mikey (12). In her spare time, she enjoys watching college football,
cooking new recipes and playing with her two dachshunds, Penny and Doc.
Lauren is a graduate of Francis Marion University with a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education. She has experience working as a 2nd grade teacher in N. Myrtle Beach and as a homebound instructor for Florence District 1. For the past three years, Lauren has served as a 4K teacher at First Baptist Preschool. She lives in Hartsville with her husband Wes and son Rory, who is almost 3, and their dachshund Deuce. Lauren enjoys Saturday mornings with her family, Pinterest, and DIY home projects.
