Daniel N. Sansbury

Dan grew up in neighboring Darlington, SC, and was a member of the Darlington Presbyterian Church.  He was a 1973 graduate of St. John’s High School and graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of South Carolina in 1977 with a BA in English.  He then received his Doctor of Ministry from Columbia Theological Seminary in 1981.  

Dan began his ministry in 1979-80 with the Pasadena Presbyterian Church in St. Petersburg, Florida, as an intern.  He was the pastor of Franklin Presbyterian Church in Salisbury, North Carolina, from 1981-1986.  He moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina, as head of a new church development from 1986-1991.  From 1991 – August, 2011, he was the pastor of Rivermont Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga, Tennessee.  He came to First Presbyterian Church in September of 2011.

His wife, Joye, is a native of Cheraw and a math teacher.  They have three young adult children:  Daniel and Bryan, who are both graduates of USC, and Gracyn who is a graduate of Vanderbilt.
